Lending a hand, Syracuse style
On Saturday, April 26, Boston-area alumni spent the morning at Greater Boston Food Bank in honor of National Orange Day, joining dozens of other volunteers to help pack 25,000 snack bags that were given to walkers at the Project Bread Walk for Hunger. Participating alumni represented classes from the 1960s to the early 2000s. Working side-by-side in their Syracuse gear, they shared stories of their time on campus while supporting a great cause.
“Over the past year, the Alumni Club of Boston has been encouraging members to roll up their sleeves and lend a helping hand in the community,” says Brianne Miers ’99, club president. “Our community service chair, Kristin O’Donnell ’07, has done a fantastic job organizing monthly volunteer opportunities.”
From preparing food at Community Servings to selling raffle tickets at Fenway Park for the Red Sox Foundation, the club is focused on helping local alumni to make new connections while supporting a variety of causes.
