V-WISE conference coming to Boston
During August 21–23, 2015, Boston will shine a national spotlight on women in the armed forces when the V-WISE Conference comes to town. Short for Veteran Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship, this premier educational training program enables women veterans, active duty women service members, and female military family members to find their passion and learn the business-savvy skills to turn their ideas or businesses into growth ventures.
V-WISE is a partnership between Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) and the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. According to the IVMF, women represent an important and growing segment of the veteran community, and the post-service challenges facing many of the nation’s 1.8 million female veterans can be formidable. However, the potential to empower female veterans as leaders in business, higher education, community, and government is real and compelling.
In preparation for the conference, participants must complete a 15-day online learning experience that teaches the “language of business,” how to understand opportunity recognition as it relates to growing a sustainable venture, and how to present actionable strategies related to new venture creation. Applications and conference registration must be received by July 10, and the course starts July 27, 2015.
The August conference includes a full agenda of keynote speakers and course instructors from academia, industry, government, and the military who could help make business ownership attainable for women veterans. Boston is among four cities V-WISE will come to this year. Watch the V-WISE conference highlight video.
