Megan Walsh ’09
For Megan Walsh ’09, the SU experience led to great friends, an excellent education, and a broader awareness of the world.
“The network of people I met at Syracuse impacted my life tremendously,” she says. “From friends to professors, SU introduced me to many different people with a wide range of world views, and that forced me to look at situations from multiple perspectives.”
Originally from Emmaus, Pennsylvania, Walsh came to SU to earn a dual degree in advertising and sociology, from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and the College of Arts and Sciences, respectively. During her student years Walsh became a member of Alpha Chi Omega and the March of Dimes Collegiate Council. She also enjoyed a semester abroad in London.
“My classes focused on real-life, professional circumstances that I still reference today, and the network of people I met impacted my life broadly, from sports leagues, to great friendships, to job opportunities,” Walsh says. “I feel a great deal of gratitude toward SU.”
Today Walsh lives in Boston and works as an associate director in performance marketing at AMP Agency Media Services. She enjoys staying connected through Boston’s alumni network and shares her experiences with current students.
“College can be extremely intimidating, and having someone who’s been through it to help navigate can open up opportunities and make the whole experience more manageable,” Walsh says. “It’s just one simple way I can give back.”
